Katherine & the Team

Katherine Barton

Katherine BartonKatherine is Director of Barton Insights and an award-winning trainer and coach, specialising for the last decade in the field of intercultural communication, coaching and expatriate transition. She has supported executives from every continent, from management trainees to senior directors of numerous multinational companies, including BP, British American Tobacco, JP Morgan, American Express, BNP Paribas, Pfizer, Mars, Facebook, Cummins Technologies, GlaxoSmithKline and Coca-Cola. She is also passionate about supporting expatriate accompanying partners and any individual really wanting to connect to their deeper motivation and purpose.

Although her greatest pleasure is client feedback and success, in 2014 she was delighted to receive a ‘Premier Service’ award from a major relocation company from its global network of 350+ trainers. She was also named ‘Expatriate Cross-Cultural Coach of the Year – UK’ at AI Global Mobility, Immigration & Logistics Awards 2015. She has now worked with over 600 expatriate executives and families and has a deep understanding of the challenges of international assignees.

As a coach, Katherine hopes she is warm, positive, empathetic, intuitive and non judgememtal; she can also cut to the heart of a matter and challenge when needed. Katherine enjoys working with British executives and individuals as much as her expatriate clients, coaching them on a variety of topics. For example, since 2014 she has been one of the coaches on an Emerging Research Leaders’ Development Programme at the University of Cambridge.

In addition to an M.A. in Modern & Medieval Languages (French & Spanish) from the University of Cambridge, Katherine obtained a Business Cultural Trainer Certificate from International House London and a coaching diploma from Achievement Specialists, a European Coaching Institute accredited course. She is a member of SIETAR (Society for Intercultural Education, Training & Research) and of the Association for Coaching.

British, with Venezuelan family, she is now based in her hometown of London. However, her work and travels have taken her to numerous global locations, she has lived/worked in France and she returned from a year in Baku, Azerbaijan in 2013.
